This year has been amazing in terms of travelling for me. So far, I have been to Barcelona, Mykonos and Lisbon with a few days spent in London and Brighton in between. With two more mini breaks to go in 2017, I thought I would give a ‘not so mid year’ travel round up of my favourite places I’ve visited.
With the horrific recent terrorist attacks in this beautiful city, my trip there back in March is even more poignant. I went for 2 nights with my best friend and we had such a good time. I had never visited the city before but seeing the Gothic Cathedral, the Sagrada Família, wandering the streets of El Borne and seeing the city from the amazing Park Guill I fell in love with it’s laid back vibe. The weather wasn’t that great when we went so I will definitely be visiting again one Summer in the future.
I visited Mykonos for a week in early May, staying in Ornos (read my full post here) and I cannot recommend this Greek island enough. The people, the beaches, the food, just everything about this Greek island is wonderful. If you are planning a visit then rest assured, you will come back home with a memory card full of photos. Behind every corner there is a beautiful photo opportunity that belongs on a postcard.
Again, another first visit to the Portuguese capital for a long weekend. Mark and I had the best time in this city. We walked, shopped and ate lots. One of the highlights for me was riding Tram 28, weaving through all the old streets and watching the world go by. I so recommend this place for a city break – I can guarantee you will be taken in by it’s charm! Read all about my weekend here.
What’s Left for 2017
Next up on the list – I am heading back to Portugal. This time to a place called Comporta, about an hour’s drive South of Lisbon. Mark and I are heading there with friends. We are staying in an Eco Lodge a stones throw from the most amazing looking beaches. With the weather being a mixed bag in the UK over the past couple of weeks I am looking forward to being able to wear my Summer clothes again and being able to chill out on the beach in the sunshine.
October brings my 2nd year wedding anniversary and my last mini break of the year. Mark and I are heading to Elmley Nature Reserve for a spot of Glamping amongst the wildlife. It looks absolutely beautiful, and, confession time. This is one of the places I have been looking forward to visiting most this year. Relaxing outside, next to a fire under a blanket of stars after a day of walking and foraging looks set to be incredible.
Do you have any more trips planned this year? Are you super organised and have already planned your 2018 holidays?
