So, here I am. Heading into 40 weeks and full term. It seems like yesterday when I announced Mark and I were expecting a baby back in February. I have been so lucky to have had a really good pregnancy and with the birth imminent it got me thinking about what I am going to miss about being pregnant and what I am looking forward to most once the baby arrives.
GOING TO MISS
My Bump – This I think is going to be the major one for me. Watching my bump grow week on week and feeling the baby’s movements change from light flutters to full on kicks and squirms has been one of my favourite things about being pregnant. I know I’m going to miss my little sidekick when it comes Earth-side and having that special time just the two of us.
Life As A Two – Even though Mark and I had been trying for a baby for a while and went through IVF, I have been struggling over the last few weeks with the thought of our lives changing and it never being just us two again. We have an amazing relationship and there is the worry that this new little person is going to come between that. I know I am probably being stupid and I soon won’t be able to remember a time without our baby, but even so we are trying to embrace and spend as much quality time together as we can!
Sleep – Goes without saying. Both Mark and I are extremely deep sleepers and fall asleep as soon as our heads touch the pillow. This is going to change and I’m wondering how I am going to cope!!
Glowing Skin & Thick Hair – I’ve been lucky enough to have both this pregnancy. Please don’t leave me!!
Meeting the Baby and Discovering the Gender – If you read this post then you’ll know the reasons why we haven’t found out the baby’s gender and I am so excited to know whether we have a son or daughter cooking away. We also decided not to have a 4D scan so being able to meet him/ her and discovering who they look like most is just so exciting!
Becoming a Three – Ok, so I said above I am mourning life as a two, but I am just as excited to become a family of three. A proper unit. We have been talking about our first family holiday and where we’ll go next year and it’s got me all giddy with excitement!
Eating Brie and Drinking Wine – I haven’t been too strict on myself in pregnancy and have been enjoying the odd glass of wine but I am looking forward to being able to have a second (or third) glass of an evening and eating all the brie I can!
Baby Clothes Shopping – There are just so many adorable clothes out there and I know I’m going to have a hard time being able to control myself! Gone are the days of treating myself to garments, from here on out it’s all about the baby!
It’s hard to say how often I’m going to get to post on my little blog over the next few weeks/ months. If I am being honest, I have struggled to be motivated with it in the last stages of my pregnancy. I will be posting lots on Instagram though through the grid and my Stories so be sure to follow my journey into motherhood then!
See you on the other side
